ビートルズの英国での11枚目のオリジナルシングル。カップリングは「デイ・トリッパー」。
ビートルズ初の両A面シングルにもなるこの曲は1965年12月3日に発売された。
6枚目のアルバム「ラバー・ソウル
全編、ジョンとポールのデュエットで歌われており、ジョージがコーラスに加わっている。
各オリジナルアルバムには未収録のために、編集盤「パスト・マスターズ vol.1&2
この曲は1965年10月20日、アビイ・ロード第2スタジオにて録音された。
アルバム「ラバー・ソウル
ジョン（ギター）、ポール（ベース）、ジョージ（タンバリン）、リンゴ（ドラム）の編成でリズムトラックを録音。
このリズムトラックは2テイクで終了し、つづけて第2テイクにジョンとポールがヴォーカルを録音。
そしてジョンがハーモニウムをオーバーダブしている。
そして1965年10月29日。アビイ・ロード第2スタジオで追加のボーカルをオーバーダブしてこの曲は完成した。

An anecdote ～ こぼれ話
- 途中のワルツ風の3拍子はジョージのアイデアによるものである。
- 「ジョンがタンバリンでジョージがギター」という説もよく聴くが、ブートレッグに収録されたこの曲の録音の際の会話から、ジョンがギター、ジョージがタンバリンだと思われる。
「We can work it out, We can work it out」の部分での16分音符を含めたカッティングはジョンならではのもので、少なくとも管理人はこの頃のジョージにこういうプレイが出来るとは思えないのである。（失礼！） - カバーはスティービー・ワンダーやチャカ・カーンの物が有名である。
